Math Contest
Celebrating Mathematical Excellence, Teamwork and Problem-Solving
The STEM4ALL Math Contest is our annual flagship mathematics tournament for students in Grades 3–8. The event brings together students from schools across the Bay Area for an engaging day of problem-solving, collaboration, friendly competition, and community.
Designed for young mathematicians at different stages of their learning journey, the contest gives students an opportunity to challenge themselves, apply mathematical reasoning, work with peers, and celebrate their accomplishments in a supportive environment.
More Than a Math Competition
The STEM4ALL Math Contest encourages students to see mathematics as more than a classroom subject. Through individual and team-based challenges, participants strengthen their critical-thinking abilities, build confidence, communicate ideas, and discover the excitement of solving unfamiliar problems.

Contest Format
Participants compete in three engaging rounds:
Sprint Round
An individual round that challenges students to solve a series of problems using speed, accuracy and mathematical reasoning.
Team Round
A collaborative round in which students work together to solve challenging problems while practicing communication, teamwork and strategy.
Relay Round
A fast-paced team experience that requires coordination and collective problem-solving as students build upon one another’s work.
Together, the three rounds recognize both individual achievement and the ability to collaborate effectively.
Who Can Participate?
The STEM4ALL Math Contest welcomes students in Grades 3–8 from public, private, charter and home-school communities across the Bay Area.
Students do not need to be advanced competition mathematicians to participate. The contest is intended to encourage motivated learners who enjoy mathematics, problem-solving and working with others.
A Day of Learning and Community
The STEM4ALL Math Contest brings together students, families, educators, volunteers and STEM professionals in a welcoming community environment. In addition to competing, students have opportunities to connect with peers, celebrate one another’s achievements and experience STEM beyond the classroom.
Selected contest events may also be held alongside STEM project showcases, workshops or other family-focused learning activities.
Awards and Recognition
Students are recognized for outstanding achievement in individual and team rounds. Awards are presented according to the divisions and criteria announced for each year’s contest.
Most importantly, every participant leaves with valuable experience, greater confidence and the satisfaction of taking on a meaningful challenge.
