About the event

The objective of this Virtual STEM challenge (Summer Cohort) is to inspire youth to apply Math, Science, Engineering, and Technology to create and showcase their innovative projects to solve real-world world problems.


Inviting students in Grades 3 to 12 in the United States to

  • Create an engineering or science project based on personal passion for improving the community

  • Students can choose to work individually or work in a team of 1 to 4 students. Each participant must complete individual registration first.

  • Submit project details - project video, abstract, and poster for virtual judging before deadlines (refer website for details).

    Note: There are no live interviews for Virtual STEM Challenge


Awards and Recognition:

  • Separate awards for Elementary (Grades 3-5), Middle school (Grades 6-8), and High school (Grades 9-12) categories.

  • SDG awards for projects aligned to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

  • Select projects will be invited for Youth Innovators Program - Fall Cohort

  • Sponsored Awards by IEEE, Corporate sponsors, and Local sponsors - To be announced during the award ceremony

  • Virtual Award Ceremony date, time, and link will be posted on the website on Aug 17

  • All participants will receive participation e-certificates during week of Aug 17 - Aug 23

  • Award e-Certificates will be available for download within a week from the virtual award ceremony in August 2026
